Description:
The purpose of this three module training course is to train counselors and other mental health staff members in proactive interventions for aggressive behavior and can be used in a variety of settings and situations involving agitated or potentially aggressive behavior. Proactive intervention means to decrease aggression or agitation before it gets to the point that physical constraints will be necessary. These training modules are based on the “Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (T.E.A.M.)” program, which was developed at the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute at the University of South Florida in 1988. Module 3, Incident Closure and Skill Building explains Behavioral Rehearsal and Restitution as it is used in the prior section and will teach staff members to help clients create their own solutions to problems by using the Problem Solving Model.
